Sigma Chess 6.1 supports the free, open UCI (Universal Chess Interface) protocol. This means you can now run 3rd party chess engines within the Sigma Chess GUI.

When you have downloaded/installed a new UCI engine on your Mac, it must be added to Sigma's list of UCI engines by clicking the Add... button in Sigma's Engine Manager dialog.

Nalimov Tables

Nalimov tables are like Sigma's endgame databases, but many more endgames are available. Nalimov tables require both Sigma Chess Pro and a compatible UCI engine, such as the registered version of HIARCS (the built-in Sigma Chess engine currently doesn't support Nalimov tables).

Where to find PGN Games

Apart from playing games yourself, it is also a great pleasure to replay games of the great chess masters. Sigma Chess includes some sample games, but only a few in order to keep the file size down and hence reduce the download time. You are instead urged to download additional games yourself.

There are many games available on the internet in the PGN format, which can easily be imported into Sigma Chess (see also the games in Sigma Chess format at www.salasnet.com/chess). Here are a few links:
